Page Optimization

The first step in optimizing a website is to perform a keyword research on the topic of your website. It is very important to know the keywords that people use before you mould your website.

Once you have the list of keywords ready, it is essential to concentrate on one particular keyword per page. Write at least a few paragraphs of content that contain that particular keyword frequently. This is important as search engines only read text and not images and you do not want any other web page on your website to be a duplicate of the current page you're working on.

A web page has two parts. One is what the visitor sees when he visits your web page and the other is what the search engine catches when it visits your web page. A visitor will see a combination of images and text, while the search engine apart from the text on the web page also sees the underlying code of your web page. As mentioned earlier, the search engine does not see images. It is therefore important to have access to the underlying html code along with the text so that the search engine can see it easily. This access is also required in order to edit the important areas of code.

Title Tag
The title tag is the foremost text of any website that catches the eye. It should ideally be short and descriptive and at the same time it should be able to clearly tell what your web page is all about. The title tag should be created in the html code. It is important that you include the targeted keyword in your title track as this is the first thing a visitor as well as the search engine will spot. The tag should be attractive and should lure the visitor to read more on your web page. The title tag of each page should be unique in itself.

Meta Description Tag
The meta description tag also holds it own prominence on a web page. Some search engines use the meta description tag in their search. This tag should also include the targeted keyword and should tell a little more about your web page in one sentence. Although users do not see this information tag when they visit a web page, most search engine spiders see this tag and recognize it.

Meta Keywords Tag
This includes all the keywords on your page. Try and include all the keywords and most of the important nouns on your web page. It is better to avoid the keywords that are not appearing on that particular page. The meta tag should be exclusive of your website and it should not be duplicated on any other page of your website. Although users do not see the information in this tag when they visit a web page, some search engines see this tag and recognize it.

Heading Tags
These are generally used a subtitles on the web page Heading tags are the H1, H2, and H3 tags. Your web page should not necessarily include only the exact keywords or phrase that you're targeting for that web page—it can include other words, as necessary. The heading tags should not be too long—they should be used as subtitles to describe paragraphs or sections of the web page.

Alt Tags
Alt Tags are used to describe the images on your web page. If the image relates directly to your website, then it is necessary to include the keywords in the alt tags. But this does not mean you inaccurately put your keywords on images which are not even connected to the subject of your site. Also excessive alt tags should not be used which might hamper the visitor.

On-page Content
A few paragraphs of the text with the right keywords are absolutely necessary for any web page. This is also important because as mentioned earlier, search engines do not read images. This is recommended for another reason. Text can be reasonably edited for any changes to include keywords while optimizing the page.

Keyword Density
Keyword density is the measurement of the number of keywords on a page in relation to the total number of words on that page. A keyword density analyzer can be used to analyze the page's keyword density for the keyword or phrase you're targeting on that page. These analyzers are available for free so they must be used to ensure the effectiveness of your page.

It has to be kept in mind that the percentage of the density of the keywords should neither be too much or too little. If it is too little, the search engine might not take notice and if it is too much then it may seem that you are trying to manipulate your rankings.

First, perform a search on a search engine for the keyword you're targeting. Make a list of the top several web pages that appear in the top results. The first five or so web pages are a good number of pages to analyze. Use your keyword density analyzer to analyze the keyword density of the top-ranking web pages. Write down each web page's keyword density percentage and get an average keyword density for the keyword phrase you're targeting. The average may vary from page to page. In any case, it's important to have the keyword density of the page you're optimizing in the range of the web pages that currently rank well for that keyword. Once you're in the targeted range, start adding or subtracting that keyword phrase on your page until you're in the proper range but just a little bit above it.

Keyword Prominence
This measures the placement of the keyword in relation to how close to the start of an area of a page that keyword appears. It is important to analyze the prominence of the keyword in comparison to the top few web pages on the search engine and then place your keyword which is just a little above the average.

Cascading Style Sheet (CSS)
This is an advanced method of search engine optimization. It involves the technique that the more you remove code off of your html page and into a separate CSS file, the better.

Services that Goorank will provide:
Web page optimization is not an easy process, and with continual changes in the search engines algorithms, it is not a one-time process either. Because of this, we at Goorank follow a monthly monitoring and maintenance to keep your site ranking highly.

We utilize our experience and use methods related to improving of the content, site structure, and link popularity. Apart from this, we also study the algorithms that the search engines use to rank sites and then modify or create actual web pages within your site to be consistent with these algorithms for your targeted keywords.

In order to have success, these specific keywords/phrases must be an integral part of any web site. So, while many of these changes are related to aspects like page titles, alt tags, and meta tags, the on screen content also plays a major role.

The major three steps that we follow are:

Analysis of the web pages
We first see the website and analyze if there are any barriers that might be preventing or holding on to the rankings of the web site. These barriers could be anything from the format of the web pages to the html code. Our experienced SEO's ensure that there is enough content on a certain page for proper indexing. If the website is not in a search engine friendly format, our services will correct any coding error that do not functionally affect the performance of the website.

Creation of Meta Tags
We will now create relevant Meta Tags for your web page based on the actual search engine traffic. This will be designed to aid the search engine in spotting the key content of your web page and will also ensure that your web page appears in the targeted search.

Optimization
Once everything is finalized, all the required tags will be inserted into the web page for optimization. Each page has its exclusive customized content and tags. If the web site targeted for optimizing is dynamic, such as a CGI or ASP script, a static page is automatically created, and added back to the main web directory for the site. This page will look and "feel" the same to anyone looking at the web site. However it will be created and structured in a language that is preferred by the search engines. This page is referred to as the ‘anchor page' as it is regarded as something the search engines can relate to effectively.
